Men's Mothers

1.
men's mothers
they haunt

one in the wall
or foating above
when they tub bathed
no place
secret enough
no time stolen enough
no love fleeting enough
to hide from her
her lone drunken eyeball
fixed on them
her hand gripped them
her absence
stood between them

one mother
one lone scream
washing everything
making him ugly
no shaking ever
her dead body
curled by his bed
she died hanging up
a picture
on his wall
her body
spilling water

one mother
named him after a knight
loved him too much
then left him by defenestration
who can forget
her body hurtling
her body smashing

men's mothers
how do they make themselves
unforgettable deaths
they haunt
their boys
hunt them into the three walls
of their childhood
stand watch at the door

they never come to manhood

2.
gods gaze upon us
through the mother
gods turn away
through the mother
gods cradle us
gods push us off the ledge
gods croon
gods curse
gods rave
gods have theri madmen moments
their despair
they visit us through the mothers

all of us needed a bigger mother
even the gods
each of us
the very mother
herself
needed a bigger mother

rainwet
warmed by a secret
possible volcano
held in light
helding us with an open hand
letting us walk away
